Angling Adventures in Scotland
Ach, you’ll not find better fishing than up here—if the Scottish weather decides to play nice, mind. One minute it’s sunshine so bright you’re squinting at your fly line, next you’re huddled under your jacket wondering why you didn’t pack a wee dram for warmth. But aye, that’s half the charm, isn’t it?
Anyway, me and Roz—that’s my better half—run things here at You Fish Scotland. Just the two of us, really, though we’ve got a few mates who guide for us when the season’s busy. Proper good anglers, every one of ’em, though I’d not say that to their faces—they’d get all puffed up like a grouse in mating season.
Now, if it’s trout you’re after, there’s this stretch near Loch Ness… magic at dawn, honestly. The way the mist hangs over the water, and the fish rising like they’ve not a care in the world—until they spot your fly, anyway. And don’t get me started on the salmon runs up the Spey. I’ve lost count of the times I’ve been out there, freezing my fingers off, thinking "this is daft," and then—wham!—fish on, and suddenly it’s all worth it.
We’ll sort you out no matter your skill level. Never held a rod? No bother, we’ll have you casting (mostly) straight in no time. Old hand at fly fishing? Good, you can tell me where I’m going wrong with my dry flies—Roz says I’m hopeless, but I maintain it’s the wind’s fault.
Heli fishing? Aye, we do that too, though I’ll warn you now—it’s less "James Bond" and more "hold onto your hat while we dodge rainclouds." But the spots it gets you to? Worth every penny.
So whether it’s lochs, rivers, or even a bit of coastal fishing—though mind the tides, they’ll catch you out if you’re not careful—just give us a shout. We’re not one for fancy brochures or all that "unforgettable experience" nonsense. Just good fishing, good craic, and maybe a story or two to take home. Unless you blank, in which case we’ll just blame the midges and try again tomorrow.
