Reel Escape
Ah, Scotland – where the rivers sing and the fish fight like they’ve got something to prove. Truth be told, I’ve lost count of the dawns I’ve watched break over the Tay, mist curling off the water like smoke from a peat fire. That’s the thing about fly fishing here – it gets in your blood.
At Anglers Jaunt, we’re not just about guiding. We’re about sharing what makes Scottish waters special. The way a Spey salmon takes the fly with that heart-stopping tug. The cheeky wild brown trout in the Border burns that’ll make even seasoned anglers grin like kids. And grayling? Don’t get me started on those silver ghosts of the winter streams – though you’ll want a proper thermos of whisky-laced coffee for those sessions.
For newcomers, we’ll start slow – maybe the gentle curves of the Tweed, where the fish are generous and the scenery’s straight out of a Burns poem. For old hands? We’ve got private beats on the Dee where the salmon run so thick you’ll forget to breathe. Funny thing about fishing here – the luxury isn’t just in the five-star lodges or the private chefs (though they’re damn fine). It’s in the way the light slants through the birches at golden hour, your line singing through the air like it’s part of you.
Been doing this twenty-odd years now. Long enough to know where the big boys hide after a spate, when to switch from dries to nymphs, and – crucially – which bothy near Loch Awe keeps the best single malt behind the counter.
Family trip? We’ll pack the hip flasks and the jelly babies – fishing’s a family affair here. Corporate group? We’ve handled more than one CEO who swore they were “just here for the golf” until they hooked their first sea trout.
Now where was I... Ah yes. However you want to fish Scotland, we’ll make it happen. Just don’t blame us if you start dreaming about peat-stained waters and the pull of a good fish when you’re back home.
Drop us a line – the proper kind, with words, not just a fly – and let’s get you out there. The fish are waiting.
